first of all i do not upgrade or overclock so this system has to last a minimun 3+ years and all your help and input is highly appreciated, want to get it soonish within 4 weeks, thou willing to wait a bit to see what amd will do now that 670 is out to see if they will get cut price a bit more or introduce better clocked gpus at same price.

Biggest thing is it has to last a bare minumum 3 years

keep in mind within 2 weeks of 680 release 7970 prices here in australia droped by good $150 before they were piced over $700+ now they are under $550 most of my parts will come from www.pccasegear.com only part i will buy localy is case in order to save $70 on shiping, shiping on all other parts put together will cost `$65

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. Lots of Gaming, Watching movies anime, Surfing an music listening

2. What YOUR budget is. Under $2000 AUD.

3 What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from. Australia

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. Ivy bridge

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts. NO.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
No Overclocking

8. What resolution will you be using? 24 inch 1080 single monitor keep the gpu minimim 3+ years and still be happy playing new and upcoming games.

9. WHEN do you plan to build it? Within the next month.

Component list v1:

Case Good. Alternatives: Core 3000 or PC-K9 for $105.
Fans Not needed.
CPU If you want the system to last 3+ years, buy the 3570K, you might change your mind about OC later on. It's not difficult, and you get to tap into 20-30% extra performance (and thus extra longevity)
GPU Good. Gigabyte or Asus for cooling.
RAM 2x4GB is enough for gaming for a long while.
PSU Overkill, you don't need more than 500-550W. Antec Neo Eco 520C $70 or Seasonic S12II 520W $100 or even Antec EA-550 Platinum $115.
Mobo If you get 3570K, good. If not, you can't OC so H77 would be more appropriate, e.g. Gigabyte H77M-D3H $90.
Cooler Another reason to spend the extra on 3570K.
HDD Not worth $65 over this equivalent Seagate
ODD Good
OS Good

I agree with lehtv on parts, but I want to know what the reasoning behind the GPU "having" to last 3+ years is? It's not like upgrading a GPU is anything other than a 10 minute job.

Sticking with corsair case since ive read great things about it.

Fans i think i should get then as in summer here in my city it gets over 45 C in summer and i have no air con just looking at my current pc i can tell it hates summer so extra fans might help

Alright im sold on 3570k

GPU gtx 670 or hd7970? which one would be better for long term? 7970 has extra gig of ram and in long term that should be handy but nvidia has better drivers hands down (havent bought a nvidia gpu in 8 years gota keep amd afloat so they dont go out of buisness but now i think i dont care after the way amd priced 79xx series).

2x4 gig i think should be ok was goin fo 8x2 as i will not upgrade for 3 years minumum.

I think ill stick with hx 650 as fully modular and has exelent reviews all over and evryone tells me not to skimp on a psu.

Good happy with the mobo 😀

yeap great cooler and should be good

Hard drive is the first thing ill disagree with you all of the parts i have listed have a minimum 3yr warranty that hdd has 1 year wrrnty so its a no go. Main issue if i should get velociraptor 1terra as its faster or the 2terra wd c black both of these have 5 year warranties.

the os and odd are straighforward.

thanks for your input.

its simply not worth upgrading at least thats the way i see it, its only this year that my 4870 1gig is starting to show its age and ive had it for 3.5+ yrs and it has served me well and price of upgrading constantly is just bad its better to get a mid high end part every 3 years then something new every year as in long term it saves me money that i can invest in my next build. Keep in mind gpus and most of pc components are overpriced here hd 7970 was $730+ AUD (`$760 USD) here at release.

I'd pick GTX 670. Slightly cheaper than 7970, consumes 50W less, performs the same. 2GB VRAM is enough for a long while.

Nothing stops you from adding another 2x4GB kit later. Like swapping a graphics card it's a 10 min job. It's a fact that right now, you just don't need 16GB. Even 4GB would be enough for most gamers, but 8GB is recommended because RAM is cheap. 16GB is just stupid overkill.

As for the Corsair case, PSU, hard drive, etc. it's your money 😉

Thx for help gtx 670 it is as i game single monitor and 2 gigs will be plenty enough, 4x2 gig ram it is and yea adding extra ram is easy and can do it if need be later.

Gota buy the case localy if i get it from webisite i linked it ups shiping by $70 so my choices are very limited as for psu and hdd yea id prefer good warranty and quality modular psu.

thanks for all your help since ive had to give mah women 1k its gona be a month before i can buy the parts so ill update this again if there are any changes and get your advice again.

Thanks a lot 😀

It's "not worth upgrading" if you overbuy on the GPU in the first place, I agree. If you get something in the $200-300 range, you won't feel like you "have" to wait 3-4 years to get your money's worth. I'd rather upgrade every 18 months to 2 years and have consistently good performance than go out spend a ton of money in year 1 and really be suffering by year 4.
