Judging from your sig, you appear to be a gamer. In the FX-55 review the 3800+ has an average performance advantage of 6.3% in games over the Newcastle 3400+. You have to decide if those 6.3% are worth the $290 more for the CPU and the $70 more for the mainboard (compared to a DFI Lanparty).
If I were to make an upgrade now I would get the following:
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=19-103-488&depa=0
Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=13-136-147&depa=0

Also do you really need to upgrade now? Your system looks well capable to play DOOM 3 and Half-Life 2 at high resolutions. If you wait a little longer you can get a 3400+ a NForce 4 SLI mobo and a 6600GT for more overall performance and less money. And you have the option to add a 2nd video card when needed.

Thanks nickel020, I have the cash now and it will "go away" if I dont invest it quick.
I think you are right though and will switch my choices however i recently went through 4 count em 4 bad dfi infinity mb's so I am weary of dfi.

I figure this mb purchase will hold me over for 2-3 years without having to upgrade.
At least i hope.
