New system won't boot

I've recently assembled a new system with a Shuttle AK31 motherboard, and AMD T-Bird 1.13 ghz 266bus, NEC 256 mb DDR pc2100 2.5v memory, and a Hercules 3d prophet Kyro 2.

When I try and boot it, the Award POST goes into a never ending sequences of beeps (and no display comes up), which is supposed to indicate a problem with the memory and / or video card. I tried the video card in another PC, and it works fine. I don't have any other sticks of DDR memory to try in the system, but I have tried the current stick in all 4 slots, made sure it was firmly seated, removed all superflous PCI cards, and reattached all the cabling, all to no avail.

Can any offer any advice, or does it just seem like I have a bad stick of memory?

Thanks,
Shawn

Try just the cpu (and heatsink fan) memory and video card and see what happens. You could also try another video card if you have one laying around. Good Luck

I have tried my older PCI Riva TNT card, and the same endless cycle of beeps occurred. I have also tried with no other cards installed, all to no avail. Reseating the memory also has not helped.

What is the sequence of the beeps? In other words, something like "2 long beeps followed by 3 short beeps" or something to that effect. It should be the same cycle repeating. That will make it easier to track down.
