Ok, it looks like I need help. I just powered up my system for the first time and the fans spun (2 case fans and the CPU fan) for about 4-5 seconds, then stopped. Nothing happened after that. I have the asus p4pe mobo. The green light was lit up on the mobo. The red light by the graphics card was not. The power LED light on the case outside was not lit.

Currently, I do not have any drives installed, but I don't think that would be an issue. So, I'm ready for suggestions. Thanks in advance for the help. This is my first attempt at ever building my own system, and I've never dealt with mobo installation before, so please go easy on me. : )

If there were no long beeps, that could be a good sign.
If there was only one short beep, that could be a good sign.
If both of the above are true, verify that your video card is properly installed, and that your on board video is properly enabled or disabled via jumpers on motherboard (if applicable, see manual for details).

If there ARE beeps, look up the beep error codes in your manual.

If there are zero beeps, and nothing else happens, you may need to reset your bios, by shorting your CMOS battery. That would also be in your manual.
Also see "Rig wont Boot! Please help. FSB BIOS modification causes no boot" in the "Tech Support" forum for more info.

thanks for the reply.

There are zero beeps and nothing displays on the monitor as well. It stayed in sleep mode I believe. I will reset the BIOS and see what happens. Thanks.

Oh, and if none of that helps, start uninstalling devices based on their importance.

also confirm memory and CPU is properly seated.
Memory should audibly SNAP into place, and the little holders should all line up, if the slot is empty or not. (but if that was the problem, you should be getting BEEPS... UNLESS... you did not hook up the internal speaker to your case, or if you disabled it if it was built into your mobo).

still nothing. Now the fans don't even turn like they were. For the record, I'm using the Antec SX835II case. I have the lead wires for power LED, speaker, reset, etc. plugged in such that the labeled side is towards the top of the case. any more ideas?

Like I said, I don't have any drives plugged in currently, just memory, cpu, fans, and video card (which is nvidia tnt2 from the computer I'm using now. Thanks for any help.

ok, nevermind.....i'm an idiot. I was one pin off on my power lead wire. I didn't leave a pin in between the reset and it. That was a waste of an hour or two. Oh well. It is up and running fine. I got one short beep, so I am good to go. Thanks for the help.
