my new rig, see signature, only got 6585 on 3dmark2001se. on my old machine with a duron 800 and ati radeon 9500, i got 6741 w/o oc. what could be the problem? i run doom 3 and ut2004 just fine. i'm just bothered by the score because i expect my new system to perform better than the old one. thanks

edit: currently the new system only has 512mb of ram, one stick was bad as it failed memtest. but the old machine only had 384mb of pc133...

also, as i look at the results, every single test shows 60 fps. is there an options somewhere that i much check or uncheck?

you probably have vsynch enabled somewhere. i dont know where to didable it, but that is what is limiting the score.

are you sure you tested it with 3dmark01 and not 3dmark03? 6585 is pathetic in 01 for the system in your sig that would be serious problems. don't rely on just benchmarks though. if it plays the games you like well then don't worry about it.

yup it was v-sync. i set it to application-controlled instead of on, now the score is 20,371. this is from 3dmark01. does this number sound more on par?

20k sounds about right.

This is why 3D Mark can be a good thing to run on your PC, it allows you to identify issues :)
