Ok...so here's the specs first of all
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AMD 2100+ retail
Shuttle AK35GTR KT266A MB
ATI Radeon 8500DV
2x 512 DDR 2100 (Dane-Elec DDR 512MB 64MBx64 PC-2100 RAM)
IBM 120gxp 40gig (system)
WD WESTERN DIGITAL "SPECIAL EDITION" 120GB 7200RPM (x2 for raid 0)
Lite-On 52x CD-ROM
I have a Maxtop case with this power supply.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So I installed XP Pro a couple of times now....but it reboots at random.
Temps on the CPU get only to 97f idle to 118f (busy installing)
The second time it did this while I was updating the driver for the video card and now wont boot as it can't find "hal.dll"
Which I booted in recovery mode and it appears to be there....so I have no idea on that one.

But with all the rebooting problems we all have seen here, I guessed it could be the power supply.
But when I look into the specs, it has good wattage going to the 3.3 & 5v lines.
The amps to the 3.3 line is only 24a though...could this be not enough for this system ?

Anyway, there you have it.... I am looking for more input on why this might be happening.

Thx in advance.

Yeah I know....I looked there already.

The PSU comes with the "AMD APPROVED" sticker that doesn't show up in the pic.

And I know that the AMD site is slow to update this for us....so I wonder how high this is approved for ?

I mean, Future Power isn't there either, or many others that alot of people use.

But I am looking for a new PSU just in case.

Any good PSU's out there that would work for this system that won't break the bank ?

More input please.....:)

a power supply saying "AMD Approved" means d*ck....it could be approved for a 1.0 GHz chip and still be AMD Approved

go to newegg.com, catalog, power supplies, compucase corp., and get the 350 watt PS...it's $39 + $6 for shipping, and it's rated for up to AXP 2100+. i use the same one, and the 2 fan system is similar to Antec and Enermax. it's a really nice PS, and it's pretty inexpensive too

Ok, so I called Maxtop who made the case I bought from Newegg...

And they are sending me a Channel Well CWT- 420ATX12 for $35 shipped.
They are doing this knowing I will ship the Qmax 350w back to them as soon as I get it.

I thought that was real cool of them.

:)

I will update this when I install the new one.
