Has anyone had any issues trying to install the drivers for the Intel ICH8 southbridge? I tried twice, to no avail. The first time I just used the disc that came with the motherboard. It immediately hung up while loading these ICH8 drivers. I restarted windows and this time used the driver from Gigabyte's website. It too hung up, and I had to reset the system. Only this time windows wouldn't load, and long story short, i had to reinstall windows. Fun.

Well, i have since skipped installation of the ICH8 drivers, and am using the Gigabyte SATA drivers for my harddrive. Anyone know why this might be happening? In device manager, everything is loaded and looks good, except it says something like "SM Controller" and has an exclaimation mark next to it. Any suggestions?

Here is my rig:

Antec Case w/ Antec 380W PSU (I know, need more)
Gigabyte 965P-S3 Motherboard
Corsair XMS2 2GB PC6400 RAM
Intel E6400 Core 2 Duo 2.13 Ghz
EVGA GeForce 7900 GTO 512 MB
Seagate 320 SATA 3.0GB/s

I wish i could help I just installed the drivers off the Gigabyte disc and every thing was great. Have you tried Gigabyte customer service? The contact info is on the disc. It might be you need to uninstall the drivers and stat with a clean install off the Intel site.
