I was a bit worried because my back case fan doesn't want to turn on, for reasons I am unsure of. Maybe it's a lack of power?

Anyway, I am running RivaTuner and pumped my 8800gt to 80% fan speed. I also have a screen shot of some temps.

This is my first dual core processor. Is there any programs out there that I need to have? For example, if I want to run a program on one core and another program on another, do I need to have a certain program running to do that?

if u have the fan plugged into the system header on the mobo it may be just not spinning because it's set in bios to be temp controlled... plug it into a different header...

41C, are they your idle temps? what is your room temp? if the room temp is around 70-75F they are a bit high

for reference:
room temp: 72F
idle Q6600 temp: 36C
load Q6600 temp: 58

Even if the 5V line were low, the fan should still turn, just turn slower. I am confused why this would happen unless the header has a loose connection, or there is some other issure with the fan. Terminals break, or get loose all the time. Try taking the fan out and crimping new terminals on the header, and if that doesn't work, do the same with the header on the power supply side. Of course easier methods would be to use a different header from the PSU, and if that doesn't work, replace the fan.

I'm having no luck with getting the back case fan to work, even with new headers. Perhaps my PSU isn't powerful enough with this new MB, but I don't think that would be the case. I am going to get a new case fan and hopefully it works. I am still getting 30-40C temps even under load, but the low 30's are only when using an external plugin fan pointed at my open case...

If it were some other component that was not working, then maybe the PSU would be the culprit, but a fan uses a dumb DC motor so it would turn unless the 5V line were VERY low, which would mean that any other component that runs on the 5V line would have no chance of working. I think you probably just broke a connection somewhere in the fan header/wire when switching out the board. Luckily new fans are cheap.
