I'm a newbe at OCing and I am getting ready to build a new system.

I'm thinking AMD 2800, Abit NF7-S v2, 512 PC3200, 400 watt PS, 64mb AGP 8x Video, 120gb IDE hard drive, DVDRW 8x, DVD Rom. Win 2k Pro.

Pros & cons on this config?

Has anyone OCed a 2800?

How fast and still stable?

Good motherboard, wrong processor to overclock. Get either a Barton 2500 or a BARTON 2600, and you'll get some good performance out of that NF7-S. When you overclock, you want to end up with a high fsb, so you want to choose a proc. with a low mulitiplier, like the 2500 or 2600 Barton. Just make sure you don't buy a 2600 Thoroughbred, because you won't get hardly anything out of those.
