Ok, I have finally decided to upgrade my old system.

Celeron 366@550 on a BH6
128 MB cheap PC100
Canopus Spectra 2500 16 MB
Turtle Beach sound card (1st gen aureal)

I am keeping the rest of the components the same (save for a new power supply).

I want to get:

Duron on a Abit KT7 (or Asus A7V)
128 MB Mushkin High Perf. PC133 Rev 1.5
SB Live w/ new speakers (probably the FPS2000)
Radeon/GF2MX/GF2
Antec 300W PS in an Inwin A500 midtower

rest of components (already have):
Sony 4/2/24 CD-RW
CL 6x DVD w/ DxR3
20.5 GB WD HD ATA66 7200 RPM
6.4 GB WD HD ATA33 5400RPM
floppy

Now, the video card is TBD (a friend of mine is going to hook me up with one of these, not sure just yet which one). I think I am gonna shoot for a Duron 600@900. I'd like to get the Alpha PAL6035 + fan (is YS tech or sunon or some other better?).

Basically I want to know a few things. Is there anything that I need to know about specifiacally when I go to build this system? Common issues, potential pitfalls? The system I have now was fairly easy to set up. I know that the Duron's (Athlons in general) are a little more work, but the rewards far outweigh the initial struggles. I am trying to minimize the effort required.

Also, once the system is up and running, what type of performance tweaks are available (like the 4 in 1 drivers, what is that all about)? Forgive the stupid questions. :)

Thanks for any help/suggestions.

(BTW, I love to use parenthesis :))

edit: changed title to reflect nature of post... :)

Asus A7V and SBLive don't mix very easily. They do, but getting things to work is quite tedious...
