Hi. I'm am planning on a getting a new computer in the next month or so. Currently i'm on a p3. So, I don't really upgrade that often, but I intend to use the system for gaming, word processing, surfing, movies, etc. Here are the components I have already picked out:

Antec SLK3700-BQE
AMD Athlon 64 3000
DFI LANPARTY UT nF3 250Gb
Corsair Value Select Dual Channel Kit 184 Pin 1G(512MBx2) DDR PC-3200
SEAGATE 160GB HARD DRIVE 7200RPM SATA W/ NCQ 8MB CACHE
SAMSUNG SyncMaster 710T-Black 17" LCD Monitor
NEC 16X Double Layer DVD±RW Drive, Black, Model ND-3500A BK, OEM
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS PCI Sound Card, Model "SB0350"
Logitech Blue Model MX510
Microsoft BLACK Multimedia Keyboard PS/2 102keys
Video card: ?

Let me start by saying that I don't plan to overclock. So, I have a couple questions, one is will the power supply in the SLK3700 be enough for what I have listed? And secondly should I wait for the 6600GT AGP version or go for a evga 6800/bfg 6800? And finally, since I don't upgrade that often is it better for me wait for the nforce4 boards to come out and get a pci-express video card then?

Thanks.

I would say stay with what's tried and true and works great and don't go nforce4. Being an early adopter of it may not be such a great idea. Since you say you don't upgrade often, the next time you build a system and with the fast progress of pc hardware, for all we know there could be something much better and faster than nforce4. As for the videocard...both the 6600 gt and stock 6800 are good cards and the 6600 gt is priced slightly lower. I don't believe there have been benchmarks comparing performance of the agp 6600 gt to the 6800's performance. I would wait and see. I don't think there will be much difference.

So, should I go S939 or S754? Is there a performance difference between the two?

Thanks.

Yes, there is a performance difference, s939 allows dual channle memory while s754 is only single, that and the highest speed cpus will only be made on s939

I would wait until NF4. The first boards (est. cost 120$) should be out within two weeks, and certianly before the holidays. Besides, I do'nt think that the NF3 supports NCQ anyway.
A good NF4 system would be:
AMD Athlon 64 3000 Winchester (90nm)-170$
Good NF4 board-120$
Corsair Value Select Dual Channel Kit 184 Pin 1G(512MBx2) DDR PC-3200-140$
(upgrade to 190$ worth of Patriot DDR500 if you want to overclock-this will get you to 2.4 GHZ without going past RAM specs)
SEAGATE 160GB HARD DRIVE 7200RPM SATA W/ NCQ 8MB CACHE-(price unknown)
Mad Dog 8x DL DVD burner-62$
Sound card-integrated audio (You are'nt likely to notice that much of a difference on speakers less than 200$, anyways)
Logitech Blue Model MX510-30$
MS keyboard:15$
GEforce 6600GT-180$
Skyawk/Eagle Tech Silver Aluminum ATX Mini Server case, Model "MSR4611" -25$ (this is an all-aluminum case that screams "MOD ME!)
TOTAL: About 850$, although I do not know the price of the hard drive or motherboard. This leaves you 150$ to get a copy of WinXp or Win2K, some speakers (logitech 5300's are supposed to be nice for the 50$ pricetag), a webcam, or whatever.
