Drop the Registered RAM, it reduces performance and unless you run a server its useless.

"Gigabyte GA-7DXR - $175"
i think you should go with the EPoX 8K7A motherboard instead. It is about 50 bucks cheaper and it is a very good board.

"AMD Athlon Thunderbird SocketA 1.4Ghz OEM- $161"
I like your choice of processor. Don't forget to buy a HSF (Heatsink&Fan), because you are getting the OEM version of the T-bird. I recommend the Volcano II, or a fan from Tai Sol.

"Crucial 256MB Registered PC2100 DDR RAM - 44 x 3 = $132"
If you are using Win98se, you don't need more than 256mb. But, I guess you are using 2k or XP.

"Directron Black SX1030-style case - $78"
"QuietPC 300W PS - $73 + ~25 intl shipping = $98"
I have not heard of this case. Personally, I got the Enlight 7237, which came with a 300w psu, and was only $50. What company does this come from?

I like the rest of it though. What company are you getting all of it from? I don't know if they do international orders, but a very good company is Newegg.com. Good luck on your system!

Looks good, I'd drop the Gigabyte board, there are better cheaper boards out there. If you're gonna overclock, then get the Epox 8K7A+, but if you want a stable, non-oced system than MSI's K7 Master is for u. Drop Registered DDR, just get regular. If u get the Epox 8K7A+ then I'd drop the 80GB hd and get 2 40GB Hard Drives then setup a RAID array with the on-board RAID controller on the 8K7A+. It will improve performance significantly in everything. Yeah don't forget the HSF if you're buying an OEM 1.4GHz, if you want to save $60 I'd drop down to a 1.2GHz 266fsb T-Bird, it's not a big performance loss, but a big gain in money saved. Oh and make sure u get your RAM from Crucial.com, they are da best. If you want cheaper prices, I'd take a look at Pricewatch.com for lower prices on all of the parts. Oh, and depending on your vid card, you may want to up the Power Supply to 400W if you get a 1.4GHz T-bird.

I don't know about the Gigabyte, but the typically make good quality and very stable boards. Do you need registered RAM or that much? For what are you using the system? At $44 a stick, i guess it couldn't hurt.

I've never been a WD fan, is that a 7200rpm Cavair?

I don't even know what the NoiseControl silverado is.

Silverado is supposedly a very good HSF.

I would go with the Epox but only two RAM slots bothers me.

Yeah, 7200rpm Caviar.
