New System, shuts down after 1.5 sec, No POST

Hello all,

I just built a new PC and its not POSTing. Here's the specs:

MSI Z87-GD65
Core i7-770k
1 G.Skill DDR3 1866 8GB stick
EVGA GeForce 760 4GB
Corsair TX650

I've tried reseating the CPU and RAM and using the integrated graphics. I've double checked the 12V and ATX 24-pin connectors. I've tried using the EVGA card. I've tried all the RAM slots. I've disconnected the HD and optical drive and the front panel connectors (just using the power button on the motherboard). I've reset the CMOS. None of this has worked or changed what happens when I try to boot. I've uploaded a video of it booting: http://youtu.be/7Qe8OUPBKuQ
Ignore my housemate in the background 😛

Thanks,
mikfig

The only 8GB OC/1866 G.Skill memory modules that MSI lists in the Z87-GD65 QVL, is the F3-14900CL10D-16GBXL kit (2 x 8GB). Is that the kit you have but you're trying to boot with just one stick installed?

G.Skill lists your memory (model F3-14900CL10S-8GBXL) as QVL for the Z87-GD65, so that looks OK. If you haven't tried it already, clear the CMOS and see what you get. And have you tried the the single RAM stick in each slot with the graphics card removed from the mobo?

Yes, I've tried clearing the CMOS and also tried the RAM stick in each slot without the graphics card installed.

Two things come to mind; I've not yet run any Z87 boards but some Z77 boards are pretty finicky about which memory modules will run in single slot configuration, and although the TX650 is well regarded there's always the possibility of getting a brand new lemon and those sysmptoms do look an awful lot like a faulty PSU.

I was just looking at the user manual; page 1-31 covers using the voltage checkpoint cables (included) and a multi-meter (not included) to check PSU voltages, and page 1-35 covers the multi-BIOS switch for switching between the two UEFI/BIOS ROMs. I'd start by switching to the second BIOS, then if it still didn't post check the PSU voltages or try a known good PSU.

Wow Bubbaleone thanks for all the help. I'll definitely try all that once I get home.

Check your headers. I had the issue with my new z87 MSI board. I had something plugged into IR ROM header. Worked for me.

Does your mobo has some MemOK! Button like asus Mobos? I had the same issue with my patriot memories in my haswell setup. After using MemOk button it post just fine .
