I just ordered a MSI Neo 4 non SLI board. I would have liked to wait for the DFI but I decided to give them a shot. I have had one other MSI board in the past and I have been happy with it. I know lots of people either like or hate them.

I will be running a 3200+ Winchester

I need to decide between a nvidia 6800 or ATI 800 series video card. Any comments?

Also I need to select the best memory combination. I will try and overclock as far as I can with a thermright XP90 and panaflow combination.

I am also going to use the OCZ ModStream Power Supply and I think the 450 watt version should be enough since I am not SLI. I think the cable management is a great idea. And it has a single rail +12v.

blackinches is waiting for the dfi one, because blackinches is going to rice out the computron. both video cards are hard to find, but blackinches likes the geforce a bit more than the ati cards. if you do plan on an ati the x800xl seems like a good card to get. although it msrps at 299.99 the shortage is making it a lot more expensive. the 6800gt pci is actually a bit more reasonably priced. blackinches saw that monarchcomputer.com has the bfg 6800gt pcie for 475. the memory to get now seems to be the crucial ballistix series. blackinches' believes you can get them at their site for a reasonable price, but don't quote me.

what other parts are you going to get? hard drives, optical drives, case?

blackinches also ordered the same psu hopefully its good.

I already have a 120m Western Digital IDE drive I was thinking of using for data. I have heard that the raptor drives really dont perform much better then a 7200 rpm drive, or I was thinking of going with two smaller SATA drives in a raid.

Case will be a Coolmaster Wave Master. I already have Sony cd and dvd drives which work well with my current system.

I'm kinda in the same situation. I was going to get the MSI board but I'm waiting for my X800XL pre-order from ATI, so I might as well wait for the DFI board too... Can't use the MSI board without a vid card...

x800 is 9.0b and ps2.0
6800 is 9.0c and ps3.0

6800 is better deal right now but when the x800xl comes out at msrp, it'll be my choice.

money is better spent elsewhere. just use dividers and 2-2-2-10 timings. the most youll get is a few fps faster with higher speed ram.
