Just pulled the trigger at the Egg.

CPU- AMD 3700+ SD core
Mobo-DFI Ultra NF4
PS-Enermax 545 Watt
MEM- 2 x 1gb Rosewill. Combo special with mobo.
DVD-NEC dual layer burner
HD- WD Raptor 74gb 10K rpm SATA.

The vid card I'll get directly via ATI cause the company I work with participates in their employee discount program. Unfortunately, the highest end I can get right now is the X 800 XL PCIe for $170. Which is a great deal, but I wanted the X 850 XTPE. This hopefully should hold me just fine until dual cores come down and R520 comes out and becomes somewhat sane in pricing.

I have a SP-90 with a Vantec Tornado on my mobile Barton XP 2500 running 2.41ghz. My plan is to move the stock cooler on the 3700 proc over to the Barton and move the heatsink/fan from the Barton to the 3700 and OC. Hopefully I can reach 2.6ghz on it.

My biggest concern is the Raptor. Very expensive hd for the size. But I read a lot of comments on Egg plus co-worker swears by it. I guess it is a speed vs size deal.

Constructive criticism/ Comments welcomed.

Good build! I'm not so sure if the 3700+ HSF will fit on the mobo of your 2500+, though.

I havn't been impressed with raptors..My friend has one and the price/storage ratio especially if you store music is pointless. 74gigs to me is gone in like 2 months

Good point CG. I voiced this concern to another co-worker and he suggested I get a slower yet bigger hd for storage. Say a 250gb 7200rpm or so. Nothing real high performance just massive to hold music files etc.

I think I may go that route. Leave the raptor for any app I need speed on (Games of course:) )
