I'm putting together a new system after nearly 5 years on an old Athlon 3200+.

I would like any concerns, problems you've seen or recommendations on the parts I've chosen. If you recommend a different part please keep it around the same price.

Here are the basic components:

Intel Q6600 Processor (set in stone)
ASUS P5K-E LGA 775 Intel P35 Link (need the 6 SATA and ESATA)
ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED 110mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler Link
OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Link
Antec P182 Gun Metal Black Case Link
SeaSonic S12 II SS-500GB ATX12V / EPS12V 500W Power Supply Link (I am concerned about the length of the motherboard power connection because I know that people have had trouble with the P182 in the past, any input would be appreciated here)

All the rest of the parts are of little consequence. But I do want to mention that I will likely be filling all 6 internal 3.5" drive bays with hard drives. Also, I may overclock my system but only a moderate amount (e.g. maybe OC to 3.0GHz).

Thanks for your input in advance.

I forgot to mention that.

I'm going to use my old ATI 1650XT video card for the time being. In a few months I'll upgrade to a Nvidia GT8800 or better.

I've used Mushkin in the past and really liked them. I didn't realize their prices had lowered as much as they have.

However there is one problem with the memory you provided. It's Timing is 5-5-5-18 and I was hoping to get some 4-4-4-15 like the OCZ.

Do you plan on Ocing?

Why did you choose that particular heatsink? i dont care for the zalmanns and haven't for sometime....Must better heatsinks then that for same or cheaper price. Quad cores even at stock can be hot little devils.

I did find a set of Mushkins on Newegg's website for $99 with Rebate. So I might pickup them.

The are listed at 5-4-4-15 and several people mentioned they were able to get them OC'd to 4-4-4-12. Link

Duvie, I've had pretty good luck with the Zalman's in the past.

My primary concern is noise (I will be close to the computer most of the time).
My second concern is temperature. My third is being able to overclock the system to a moderate 3.0GHz.

If you've got a few better ones to recommend I'm all ears.

Thanks.

If the S12 has the same cable length as my 520HX, you won't have any problems with your 4-pin connector reaching. I had an Abit IP35-E w/the connector near the top like that Asus & it was fine. When I switched to th MSI P35 Neo2-FR, I had to get an extension.
As far as coolers go, I'm with Duvie...go with a Tuniq Tower, Thermalright Ultra, or the Xigmatek that's been talked about on here (and on Hot Deals) lately.
ClubIT has the Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12 for $32.99AR.
