For my birthday I'm ordering a Amd Athlon 64 3200+, 1GB of Corsair RAM, and the
GIGABYTE GA-K8NS Ultra-939 Motherboard. Im upgrading from a AMD Athlon Xp 2500_ Barton, an Asus A7v333, and 512mb of pc2700 ram. THe only thing I'm unsure of is the motherboard; I want a nice motherboard because I will probably have a few extra dollars to spend on it. The problem is I need to know if there are any better that support AGP. I have an Ati Radeon 9700 Pro.

I would agree there, the only thing I see a problem with is the whole idea in general.

Why upgrade from what you have now if you are not gonna go with PCI express????

It doesn't make any sense at all.....keep what you have now, or upgrade everything including the video card, otherwise you are wasting your money.

How am I wasting my money? AGP cards are still coming so it should run fine for quite a while. And Unless you can give me a mobo and video card for a cheap prince that would be better than my Radeon 9700 and Gigabyte, then I wont have enough money for all of it. In total I'll have like 421$. Plus, I need new memory to, you know.

AGP will be around for some time yet; but the latest generation cards will NOT be AGP. Keep that in mind, especially if you are a gamer.

Thanks for helping me guys, but somebody awesome picked the perfect setup for me.

MSI K8N Neo4 - F = 83$ + S/H
Leadtek 6600 PCI-E = 115$ + S/H
1GB Corsair Value Select = 88$ + S/H
A64 3000+ Venice Retail = 146$ + S/H

Subtotal = 431.54$ + S/H

Well in all honesty I would keep what you have now for a while longer or I would go with something like this.

Venice core 3000+
Epox 9NPA+ (great board for the price)
ati x800xl
1 GB of value ram (OCZ or Corsair)

(if you don't want to spend that much on a video card you don't have to, I think that is a well matches sytem that I would recomend to anyone for a cheap medium entry gaming machine.)
