New system - get 1070 now?

I just finished a new build with a i7-6700K CPU. I game at 1440P.
Right now I have a temporary GTX 970. I am able to run Witcher 3 and Far Cry 4 at max settings with decent speed (i.e. it doesn't feel slow, but not as fast as could be).
I am wondering if I should bite the bullet and get the founders edition 1070 and return 970 or keep 970 till early next year when more custom 1070s show up?

Thanks!

The after market 1070's are out already and in a few weeks you should see them hitting the msrp as we saw with the 1080's.

You won't have to wait anywhere near that long. The Radeon RX 480 comes out on Wednesday, June 29th starting at $200 and once it starts selling like hotcakes I suspect it will put some downward pressure on the 1070 to drop down to its suggested MSRP of $380. The GTX 1070 is the 1440P killer card you have been waiting for.

Definitely don't pay more than that if you can wait a week or so.

Not sure there's going to be much pricing pressure on the 1070 until stock lasts more than 10 seconds, which so far hasn't really happened. If the 480 lands where expected performance wise that's unlikely to do it - it's better value sure, but not the same performance class at all.
