Intel DH77KC is the motherboard.

On bootup, I can't seem to enter BIOS.

I tried both F2 and F10. The keyboard is working. The system just seems to ignore my commands on POST.

Should I do it manually by manipulating the BIOS configuration jumper? Please help.

Make sure your keyboard is plugged in to a USB2.0 port (sometimes USB2 ports are initialized earlier than USB3 ports). F2 is the key to use to enter the BIOS setup. Try repeatedly hitting the F2 key as soon as the system begins to post and continue to do so.

Once you get in to the BIOS the first time, you can probably change a setting to have the option to enter the BIOS to display longer before trying to boot the OS.

I tried maintenance mode (jumper) and the keyboard was refusing to work.

I'm going to have to get another keyboard (PS/2 if I can) to set things up. Either that, or this $150 keyboard is faulty.

I have an Intel Socket775 DP43BF that I recently started building into a system for my mother. To get in to the BIOS on it the first time it booted using my USB keyboard, I basically had to press F2 about 30 times from the instant it beeped until the Intel splash screen was displayed.

If the motherboard has a CMOS reset jumper, you might try following the instructions in the manual to reset it to defaults to see if that makes a difference. You might also try another USB port.

The PS2 keyboard will likely work better, though.

I got a cheap $20 USB keyboard, and it worked. I guess this $150 keyboard uses a type of USB chip or whatnot that the POST/BIOS doesn't recognize, even in legacy mode.

Kind of ironic.
