Hello I been going at this all day so... I built a Atlon 64 for a freind consisting of the following:

Raidmax Tower case with 430 W power supply (yes has extra power pig tail)
Asus K8N
Corsair CMX512 3200C2 (Its on Asus QCL list)
Radeon 6700 w 256MB DDR
Samsung 120GB SATA HD
Athlon 64 (754) 3000+
Thermaltake Venus 12+

After putting together I had a no boot situation, I tore it apart put it back together. Nothing is shorting out , The fans come on just no Bios screen. Then after several boots the Bios screen finally came up, I statrted installing windows and it locked up. Tried to reboot, no bios screen Cleared CMOS back to bios....I start installing windows Again this time BSOD urgggg so at this point Im not sure what Ive got. Looks like the CPU and the hard drive are not in question. So my question does it sound like a bad mobo? or does it sound more like maybe the video card is subject to note I tried a PCI card no bios screen ever... Its getting late I will try a known good AGP card tomorrow...Any advice ya'll can throw out will be greatly appreciated...

You need to list the error message exactly as it appears on the screen. Most windows install problems are due to memory issues, but the error message should provide enough info.

There was no particular error number per say....It just Blue screened saying the system was halted to prevent damage.

But again to get the PC to this state I have to clear the CMOS several times befor it will even boot to the BIOS screen. Usally it is just blank screen, no lights on the keyboard light up no sound from the on board sound, but all fans spin and optical drive draws open.

On one boot it said the Bios was corrupted, and kept saying scanning for drvies.

As for process of elmination, I have booted with just one stick of RAM switched it out for the other stick. I have removed all lead cables except the power switch. Removed the IDE DVD drive and Burner. Nothing makes a difference. I have a feeling the mobo may just be bad

thanks again
