Hi,

I recently assembled a new system using the following specs:

Geforce 8800GTS 640 MB
ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe mainboard
2 GB Corsair XMS DDR 2 Ram
750 Watt Rosewill PSU
320 GB Seagate SATA HD

I keep getting the 1 long, two short beeps from the system speaker, and according to my knowledge of POST, that means there is a video issue. The fact that I can't get video from the monitor during the initial boot essentially tells me the same thing. However, I've tried reseating the card in the PCIX slot, AND I've tried putting it in the other PCIX slot. Even my old 7800 GT gives me the same problem when I try booting the machine up.

Does this indicate bad video slots on the motherboard? I've read a number of complaints regarding the motherboard I bought, so I think it may be a possibility. Anyway, I hope somebody replies in a timely matter, 'cause the deadline for my refund is fast approaching. Thanks.

*edit* It looks like my ram isn't on their stupid "qualified vendors list", so I may have to get a new motherboard anyway. just hope this video issue can be worked around.

Is your old 7800GT PCIX as well? I'm guessing it is. Get a cheap PCI vid card and try using that. They're good to have around anyhow for PD purposes and they're cheap as dirt nowadays. If you get a picture with that, try running memtest86 to test your memory (pref 1 stick at a time).

Wait a minute, does your new Vid card have 2 power plugs or just one? And your mobo should have 2 plugs as well......cant hurt to check that either.....

I tried my old video card and my old memory in different module configurations. I'm certain the problem is the video card, but I'm trying to determine if the issue is fixable. Also, the GTS card only requires the single six pin connector, which is firmly in place atm. I've read tons of complaints about my ASUS board in terms of memory incompatibility and dead slots though, so I think it may have just been a bad purchase.
