New System Build begins tomorrow. need opinion

K, Finally going to start with the following proposed system
All Prices in Canadian Dollars
AMD Athlon 64 socket 939 3000+ Venice Core $175
Enermax EG565PVE FMA 2.0 535W SLI PSU $89
DFI Lanparty UT NF4-D $151
eVGA 6800 GT PCI-E 256 MB $442
Have:
Maxtor 200 GB SATA, Creative SB Live! 5.1, NEC 3520A, Zalman 92mm F2 for XP-90,
Nikao Ogre Case, Ultra Floppy+7-1 Card Reader

RAM, I am stuck between:
OCZ Value VX 2x512 $160
or
OCZ EL Dual Channel Gold 2x512 $182

also

Thermalright XP-90 $45
or
Thermalright XP-90C $60

The memory, I preferably would like something that doesn't require crazy voltages to get good timings as well as good overclock. I would say that the Value VX would be easier to get, and the Value BH-5 would be harder to get a hold of. What would be the better choice?

As for the Heatsink, I don't mind paying more for the copper one, but is it worth that extra 15 dollars? Is it much heavier than the XP-90, which is big enough as it is?

Any opinion or comment is welcome
 
I would stick with the regular XP-90. It's much lighter, cools as well (maybe 1 degree C difference at the most), and is cheaper.
 
I would get a different PSU. You can get a Sparkle FSP550-60PLG for around that price which will be a lot better. Evenb something like that would be overkill though so I would suggest the Fortron AX500-A. I would also get a X800XL. It is much cheaper then the 6800GT and performs basically the same. As for the RAM I would go with the OCZ Value VX if you feel comfortable running with high volts. Get the XP-90. The XP-90C is not worth it with only slightly cooling better and being much heavier.

thanks for the quick reply. The Availability of Fortron PSU's in ontario is pretty low, thus i don't think that is an option for me. I was planning to do the SLI pencil trick, so i was thinking an sli ready psu, (although fortron is plenty to handle the sli)

Also, I can get the 6800 GT PCI-E cheaper than what was listed in my link (thru employee discount), much cheaper than any x800xl i could find

im 80% sure im not going to use SLI but the option is there later on if need be.
i simply went for the 6800 GT because i can get it cheaper than x800 xl, and because i've seen its performance in doom 3 (and hopefully games using the doom 3 engine) are better
 
is there another heatsink maybe that i could get other than the XP-90 ? i know it is like the king of amd64 heatsinks, but is there something like that out there that allows me to use a 92 mm fan on it? my Zalman F2 is pretty good head to head against a panaflow 92, the zalman is 53 CFm @ 36 db, where the panaflow is 55 cfm at 35 db
 
You can use a 92mm on the XP-90 and nothing beats the XP-90 IMO. Some may perform slightly better, but overall the XP-90 is the best in the end.

Please don't order from tigerdirect..please...

If you need a Canadian Site, order from www.ncix.com (too bad their sale ended, they still offer awesome delivery and nice ppl to deal with), I ordered 12 parts from them and they all arrived working good and within 2 days.

Tiger = big no no.
 
Agreed, don't buy from Tiger Direct...

Also why waste money on a 500+ watt PSU, that system won't draw even half that. I recomend the Seasonic S12 line, 330-380.
