I'm building a new system, and this is the list I've come up with. It's pretty much capped on budget (in Canadian funds), but does anyone see any problems or potential places of improvement without spending more money?

Athlon 64 3000+ 2.0GHZ S754 Processor $215.99
DFI LANPARTY UT nF3 250Gb Motherboard $162.17
2 x Samsung 512MB PC3200 184PIN RAM $197.98
Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 SATA 120GB 8MB 9MS 3.5LP Hard Drive $115.99
Antec Sonata 380W Truepower Case $142.66
Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB 256-Bit Video Card $271.15
Pioneer DVR-108B DVD+-RW 16X4X16 DL 4X Black DVD Burner $103.99
LITEON 52X Black CD-ROM $25.50
Panasonic 1.44MB 3.5IN Black Floppy Drive $10.95
Logitech Cordless MX DUO $98.31
Samsung Syncmaster 997DF Black/Silver Monitor $300.00

Subtotal $1,644.69
Tax $230.26

Total $1,874.95

Thanks... 🙂 This is gonna be fun...

Personally i would ditch the 9800 pro and save up a little more or skimp somewhere and get a geforce 6800 or 6800GT! But thats just me.

Man, it must be painful to pay that tax. Guess it's unavoidable.

How well does the Samsung RAM oc? The mb can take the cpu you're getting (I assume it's a newcastle) to a really nice oc, but you have to have the RAM to complete the picture. That's of course assuming you're going for the oc.

Yes, unfortunately getting a video card that's almost twice as expensive would make me reduce the other parts quite a bit, probably meaning going for an AthlonXP, getting only 512MB RAM, a crappy case, or more likely a combination of those.

I actually wanted to get an AIW 9700 Pro with this, but can't find any of those things around and the AIW 9800's a bit too expensive...
