Trance that looks awesome. The difference between you P3 and this system will be like:
:( to :)

You may want to consider adding 2 more 512 sticks for 2 GB as games like BF2 show gains with more ram. I understand your budget doesnt allow this however.

Also, visit jab-tech to grab a nice panaflo 92LBX for your heatsink.

Also, grab 2 or 3 Yateloon 120mm D12SL fans (or 5 for the cheaper price) to replace all the system fans with. If you end up going with an XP120 for heatsink, or Sythe ninja, both of these premium heatsinks will like a 120mm fan.

Finally, a fan controller of sorts like a few zalman individual ones, or a sunbeam 5.25" bay one will make your system very very quiet.

Have fun building!

A lot of reviews state that video card gets very hot.

Better make sure you have great airflow in your case, or get a different card.

MOBO: DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR Socket 939
CASE: Antec Performance I P180
PS: SeaSonic S12-430 ATX12V 430W

Make sure the power supply's main ATX power connector is long enough to reach the motherboard's ATX power port when installed the P180 (since the PS is located at the bottom of the case)

Why would you remove all of the expensive, individually speed adustable Antec fans that come with the P180, and replace them with other fans and a fan controller?

Tiamat,

Where do you get the Yateloon 120mm fans ? I just 3 - 120mm Evercool 120mm Model EC12025M12C fans from Jab-tech.
They are on the loud side buy push alot of air..

Edit: Just saw the Yateloon fans at Jab-tech, but they don't list any specs.. CFM & noise

Regards,
Jose

I would get a PSU with 480W or higher, just so that if something is wrong with your system, DFI will support you. If you have a 480W+ 24 pin PSU, DFI has VERY good tech support. If you don't, they just respond, "You need a 480W 24 pin PSU to power this motherboard," which isn't true at all (I'm running the DFI board off of the same Seasonic S12-430 that you have listed), but it's always good to be able to have a warrantee on your mobo. If you wan't it to still be super quiet, you can get the S12-500, or if you want a cheaper solution, you can get the Forton Blue Storm 500W (almost as quiet as the Seasonics), or the Antec Truepower II 480W. Both of those are ~90-100, where the S12-500 is $130.

For the X800 XL, I would just get the Connec3d OEM model on Monarchcomputer.com for $250. It's pretty quiet (I can't hear mine), and the temps are fine. If you want, you can get an aftermarket cooler that will not overheat like the Giga-Byte, and be quieter and cooler than stock.

Make sure to get a CPU/mobo/RAM combo from Monarchcomputer, because they charge a lot less than everyone else if you buy the combo.

I'd rather have a 3200+ Venice (should o/c to 2.5-2.7GHz) & a 7800GTX instead of your combo.

Don't get your Ram form Monarch> BUT do get your MOBO/CPU from monarch since they charge less. ALso, monarch has the Connect 3d X800 XL for only 250. Ya, and you might want to get 4x 512, just to be futureproof. I don't know when but someday you might need it, and when that day comes, Winbound UTT might not exist anymore.

Yateloons are found at jab-tech.com

they are much better than the stock fans in the antec case. that is just the fact. the OP seems to be going for a near silent soln. thus, it makes perfect sense for him to go the extra mile and get the quietest fan he can get that blows decent air.

I doubt you have to worry about the X800XL passive cooled. The P180 exhaust fan will do fine. Plus, gpu can run warm and not be affected. You will be fine.

Only thing to worry about is the power supply. The 4 pin cable may not stretch long enough. You may have to look at the Antec Phantom power supplies.

Trance what hdd are you getting?
I would suggest WD Raptor 74 as it is very very quiet at idle (for OS and games)

and Samsung p120 harddrives for media (as they are the quietest 3.5" hdd)

The orange Yateloon D12SL-12 are identical to Nexus 120mm fans with the exception at 12V, the Yateloon spins 200rpm faster. The Nexus is a rebranded yateloon with slight electronic modification to allow for -200rpm. Hooked up to a fan controller, you can not tell the difference between the yateloon adn the nexus.

I guess I missed the hdd. I'm just getting Maxtor MaXLine III 7L300S0 300GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA150.
