I?m looking to replace my Athalon 1.33 I built 18 months ago. I have been to busy with school and now work ( I miss the college world 🙁 ) to pay attention to the industry. So I need some suggestions. I?m going to keep my hard drives, dvd burner, cdrw and case. I mostly do gaming, general computer usage and some video editing. I have an ati AIW radon (original) and love the video features that it offers.
For a video card I?ve been looking at the new 9700 pro AIW (is it on the shelf yet?). I know it?s expensive but I want a fast card and the AIW features. On that note, would I be better off getting a cheaper Gforce 4 card and an AIW add-in card. ( I need to get a card that handles DVI so will the add in work?)
For a chip I?m completely lost. I can't afford a 3.06 p4 (in my dreams) so what is a good option? Intel or AMD I don?t care. And one a settle on a chip what is a good chip set for that chip and mother board. As a side note, I?m planning on keeping my hard drives for now, but should I look in to getting a board that has serial ata support? Is it going top become the next ide?
So I know I went on for a while, but I am totally lost in regards to a mobo and cpu. Any help would be great (oh, I know I will need to get a new power supply especially if I get a p4)
