New System advice

Looking to replace my main system in the next week or so; parts below:

Asus P5K-VM <Actually a V3-P5G33 barebone, but you get the idea>
Western Digital Caviar SE WD1600AAJS 160GB
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD7500AAKS 750GB
GeForce 8600GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16
A-DATA 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750
SATA DVD Burner
RE- Using a AX400-PN PSU

Mild Gaming on a 20" Widescreen monitor
(CNC3/ UT3/ Civ 4)

Knowing that the E8200 is "supposedly" coming out the 20th, with better performance for the same clock- but may have spotty BIOS support

Would you buy now, wait and get the 6750 on the 20th<price drop?>, or wait for the 8200?
EDIT: *I only have $915 to invest in the system- thus the cost- cutting

If I were you, I'd drop the storage drive and 2GB of memory and buy them later. Then, I'd grab a beefier graphics card (8800GT?), and see what the new 45nm chips bring around. If the price is good, go for it. If you're gaming at all, you'll thank yourself later, trust me.

I would drop the storage, but I need it already to recover from a current failure..

And the price of memory is at a point where it seems silly not to get 4Gb

i think 750gb is way too much. reduce to maybe 500gb and go with a better video card.

no regrets will be told.

I think 4GB of RAM is a wise choice, given how cheap memory is nowadays, even if youc an't use all of them in a 32bit environment.

I second the 8800GT recommendation, I've heard many of my friends cursing when they game with 8600GT. If you need to cut cost, cut on storage

Also how old is your PSU? Remember if your PSU fries, (very likely) so does your computer....

PSU is about 2 mos old..

Did some juggling, and this is the best I can figure for the budget I have:

ASUS V3-P5G33
Western Digital Caviar SE WD1600AAJS 160GB
Western Digital Caviar SE WD5000AAJS 500GB
ASUS EN8800GT/HTDP/256M GeForce 8800GT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3
A-DATA 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750

<Now I will need to re- use my IDE DVD burner & AX400-PN PSU...>
*EDIT: I am going to wait until the 21st to pull the trigger; but further input always appreciated

Revised Part List; The budget that I had planned still not in, so still lagging on the trigger pull...

ASUS V3-P5G33 Intel Socket T(LGA775)
LITE-ON 16X DVD±R DVD Burner Black SATA Model LH-16A1S-15 - OEM
Western Digital Caviar SE WD1600AAJS 160GB
XFX PVT88PYDF4 GeForce 8800GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0
WINTEC AMPX 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750

all for $857; (Managed to pull off a HDD order alrady to fill my storage requirements0

Will order E8400 vice E6750 if the "demon of NIS" is sleeping...

(Anyone have a similar setup? I am thinking that an additional case fan may be in order.. Scythe Minebea NMB Silent IC Series 3110KL-04W-B19-E51 80mm Case Fan - Retail ...)

Finally done!

This is what I got when I pulled the trigger:

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250410AS 250GB
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
ASUS 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black SATA Model DRW-2014S1T
ASUS V3-P5G33 Intel Socket T(LGA775) Intel G33
AVerMedia AVerTV Combo PCIe ATSC/NTSC/QAM TV Tuner Card
ASUS EAH4850/HTDI/512M Radeon HD 4850 512MB
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775
AVerMedia AVerTV Hybrid Volar Max MTVHBVMXR USB 2.0

Comments?

Why not ask for comments before making the final purchase?

1) You could've saved yourself some money on the RAM, there are DDR2-800 kits that are just as good for less money.
2) The hard drive is a generation old. 7200.11 is Seagate's newest line. I'd have going with one of those, or a new Caviar or Spinpoint.

Other than that, looks peachy.
