New SyFy / Space show: Aftermath (with Anne Heche and friends)

Eug

Lifer
I just saw the first episode, and it really sucked. I have the second episode PVR'd so I guess I'll watch it but if it's as bad as the first one, I'm probably out.

The writing was bad, just bad. The actors were OK but they had little to work with. In fact, halfway through the show I was hoping for the
apocalyptic meteor shower
to destroy half the main cast just so I wouldn't have to listen to their stilted dialogue.

I tend to agree, this series has been disappointing, and the forced humor attempts have failed. (Hearing trumpets on the radio, and she goes "Don't even say it!")
The infected are called 'skinwalkers', and a apparition comes out of them when they are killed, but, I don't think they mentioned just how everyone is being infected?

Yeah, that joke feel flat for me too.

BTW, a lot of the characters remained remarkably calm despite the fact the world was turning into hell.

I think they screwed the pooch when they went with multiple end of world scenarios rolled into one, the crazy plague, solar flares, possession, and meteorites. I think I got all of them.

Haven't seen it and while I'm a sucker for post-apocalyptic movies that sounds like trying to jam way too much in to it

Random thoughts...
So, you see a bunch of cars (some still running?) abandoned, and you don't take the opportunity to take the gas?
Geeze! (Not wanting to say the Lord's Name in vane?) That was lame.
Rabid dog gets scared of a hose shooting water?
I know, we are short of ammo, so let's spray fire it!
Water people? WTH?
Don't you just love the cheesy pterodactyl animation? (Which they haven't explained where they came from...)
I really don't get how they have cellphone reception, let alone the battery lasting so long?

I haven't bothered with episode 2 yet. Too many other things to watch. Westworld, Luke Cage, Ash vs Evil Dead, and others.

And it sucks to be sick. Instead of binge watching Luke Cage in 3 days, I actually have to go to bed after an episode or two.

P.S. What bugged me about the cellphone reception was not just that they had it, but also that in an apocalypse they'd send just one text and wait for a response. And when they got it, they'd be happy with just that. People these days send more texts when just going off to the bathroom.

Daughter gets taken? Well too bad, let's go and leave a note in case she survives and gets back.
Not to mention the idea that an infected human can suddenly jump like that... Will probably watch another episode to see if there's any improvement, but if not I'll just leave it. Enough good series to watch indeed.

The humans with superhuman powers weren't just sick, they were possessed.

Anne Heche...and it isn't a comedy but is played up like she's Sarah Conner?
Actually, her acting was OK as Sarah Conner, but the dialogue and the story were stupid. I wonder what she thought when she read the script. Maybe she's short on cash these days?

Ahh yes, this show is on tonight...
New, 10/18/2016, Sci-fi, Drama, Supernatural, Thriller, Action, Paranormal
Brianna faces off with the demon-possessed leader of a bizarre religious cult; at a local base, the rest of the Copeland family makes a horrible discovery.

Are they trying to stuff everything possible into this show?

First, it was the Strain worms, except these were brown, and nice of them to run over the bodies while saying roll up the windows!? Then when the doc took one (pregnant?) worm out, it exploded into a bunch of smaller versions of varying size but they became bigger than the original in a heart beat?
Wait, this isn't the Strain...or is it?

Would have been nice if they just shot the lock off the fence, instead of wrecking the RV as well, and it was someone who knew better...
The fence where they were holding the "infected", talk about weak, it must have been one step up from chicken wire, and shocker, they escaped right before the main action!
Here comes a APC, with a fever head shooting his gun, but not the main gun... they kill the fever head on top, and that was that. Let's get on our jeep and leave!
Oh wait, here comes the APC again, who didn't see that one coming?
Yeah! They are one happy family again, and she even picked up a stray that saw here naked arms!

At least we will have banshees to look forward to next week!

BTW, anyone watch Channel Zero Candle Cove that played just before this show?

Um.
LOL at everything that has happened so far.
First one boyfriend dies, then the other boyfriend dies, those twins are trouble, must take after their mom, aka 'booty'.

Why couldn't each of them use the 'prayer wheel' anyway?
Why do they keep wasting ammo & fuel?

Yes, they made it back (don't ask me how, since the volcano took out the roads, yet, that same ultra efficient 5000 MPG RV kept trucking on!) but on arrival, their house is torched, and fields are salted, so they can't plant anything, so, away they go on that RV yet again, with pterodactyls following them.

I am expecting aliens to show up at any time now.

Yeah, so...I was wondering when time travel will become part of this show, they did everything else.
A black hole that sucks up the asteroid chunks? Sure, but they forgot the aliens!
Status: (Updated 12/15/16) Despite that fact that this show’s numbers have been down of late, it still looks good considering that Van Helsing was just renewed at similar ratings levels. Aftermath comes as part of a partnership with the Canadian Space Channel similar to Dark Matter and Killjoys which makes it cheaper for Syfy and increases its chances of surviving to a second season.

Not one redeeming character is on this show.
