I finally have permission to replace out aging unmanaged network switches, which are currently three 24pt d-link 10/100/1000s. I am looking at changing for a web managed switch mostly I can get Link aggregation working for our servers.

Information on switches in this range is difficult to find, so I thought I'd ask the question here. Currently I am looking at three switches; HP 1810G-24 v2, J9803A. HP 1810G-48, J9660A. HP 1910-48, JE009A. Why hp? No reason in particular, but the info is available and people haven't complained too much about them. I'm looking at getting two 24pts or a single 48pt.

Our budget is $700 and we have 35 users plus printers and a couple of wifi access points. A 48 ports will will work, though nearly every port will be filled. I am looking to get Link aggregation working so I can make a team of four on one server and a team of two on the back up server. We have no vlans at the moment, but if I get a managed switch I will add a guest network vlan.

Of the switches I listed which, if your opinion, would work out best of our usage? Is there another manufacturers switch that I should look at in this price range?

I don't really need the full functionality of level 3 switches, but I need more than what dumb switches have. As it sits out network work fairly well, however at odd times the network throughput seems really odd, and I'm willing to get the current switches are running into some trouble.

Thanks for your time and help!

I'd seriously recommend a used Cisco 4948. 1gb, great non-blocking backplane, large queues, and can be had for around $700 on ebay.

Used Cisco switches are great.

Hows the queue sizes on those compared to 3750s ? I read somewheres 2 mb shared among each 4 ports on the 3750s and that generates complaints among some. Is that correct?

4948's provide larger?
