I have a set of logitech z680's which have worked well for the last few years but I am setting up another system and would like to upgrade the speakers. Are there any pc sets worth getting as an upgrade (maybe creative s s750's) or should I just move to something like an onkyo htib (already have a 7.1 of theres in my media room)?

The Onkyo HTIBs are pretty much a huge step over the other HTIBs for the price, and even some more expensive then it.

I know the onkyo's are good, just wondering if for pc purposes they were worth it over something like the s750's. (Though admitidly my oknyo doenst have hdmi so maybe I will pick up a new one with hdmi and move my current reciever over to the pc).

What sound card do you have now? Do you have any consoles? I don't really know what that last sentence in your OP says.
Is this your main TV? If using this as a HTPC then yes, I would get the Onkyo HTIBs.

I do have a wii, xbox360, xbox, and will get a ps3 at some point but those are in my main room connected the the projector and onkyo setup. These speakers will be for my pc (I have an xfi, though might get something with dolby digital encoding). As my onkyo htib for the other room is a few years old and only was mid range at the time I might move that to the pc and use the new system in the theater room if that makes more sense.

Yep, for HTIB's I would only go with Onkyo or Yamaha. They are both quality and very nicely priced. On Onkyo's site you can sometimes find great deals on their refurb HTIB's.

Hell, I would get the Onkyo for all of those sources!
As for a card that can encode to DD I would get an Auzentech, the Razer Barracuda was a flop I heard.
There is suppose to be a card that is ~170 that can do gaming, music, and theater duties, but forgot what it was called.

montypythizzle, the consoles are all connected to my onkyo, right now its just the pc connected to the logitech. What I said was I might upgrade my current onkyo to one with hdmi and move the old onkyo to the computer room.
