I have a foreign DVD that doesn't have English subtitles. If I can find the subtitles online, is there a way to use them with the DVD (playing on my computer) without ripping the DVD?

There should be some sort of neural-implant you can get that will display the subtitles directly on your retina.

Eh? Is there some sort of pop-culture joke I'm missing out on? How did two guys nearly simultaneously suggest I use some sort of direct-to-brain method?

I'm going to guess this DVD isn't the Matrix.

Then again it could be, and your problem is the reason for the confusion...

Um... I don't get it. Anyway, if you have a movie file with a certain filename x.avi and then put a subtitle file in the same directory with the filename x.srt Media Player Classic will automatically use that subtitle file with the movie. I'm wondering if there is a way to do something similar with a video in Media Player Classic or any other player with any arbitrary video that is currently playing and any arbitrary subtitle file in any arbitrary location.

I'm pretty sure you'd have to either rip the DVD, or manually tell MPC to use a specific subtitle file with the video file you give it...which I have not done with DVDs, and so I'm not certain if it would work.

It'd be easiest to just download the movie. If you get a separate sub file, it may not sync properly with your version.
