I got a new Acer Aspire 1810TZ. Nice machine for the $400 price, but of course it has ugly blue/white stickers on it:

energySTAR
Intel Pentium inside
Windows 7

Are they easy to remove without leaving loads of residue behind? If not, what can I use to remove the glue without damaging the finish?

BTW, the Windows 7 licence sticker is pretty damn ugly too, but luckily it's on the underside. I swear, these companies go out of their way to make PC machines as ugly as possible. :(

When I removed the stickers from my current notebook, I had no problems.

I have used Goo Gone on several types of plastic without issue.

Your experience might not be as good as mine :)

Won't rubbing alcohol damage the plastic?

No. Just make sure it's isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol and not acetone (which would "melt" the plastic).

Rubbing alcohol works fine, use it all the time.

OK, I think I have some rubbing alcohol, which I used to wipe markers off glass.

BTW, the Windows 7 sticker came off relatively easily. The Pentium sticker came off, but left bits of goo behind. However, repeatedly re-sticking it on and pulling it off pulled the rest of the goo off.

The energyStar sticker was horrible though. Goo everywhere.

EDIT:

Rubbing alcohol worked pretty well. However, it did leave a very slight haze to the glossy plastic surface, but barely noticeable.
