The newer model 6800nu came with a white molex and a gold bar across the top. The newer models were not unlockable by the RivaTuner 15.2 utility, but with the debut of 15.3, the additional pipelines and vertex shaders were accessable.

What success have people had unlocking their new model 6800's? Also post what Overclocks you are getting and any relevant scores you may have gotten.

Edit: RivaTuner 15.3 download link

Mine stuck on reboot as well and finished up 3dmark03 with a considerable increase in score, but there were slight artifacts during 2 of the tests. I thought long and hard about whether or not the artifacts would bother me that much, but when I fired up AAO and there were minor artifacts in it as well, so I decided to close the pipelines back off. It was also strange that I could no longer OC my card any while the pipelines were open. Probably the additional pipes not passing the OC stability test and it defaulting back to stock settings.

What sort of numbers are you getting on 3dmark03 and 3dmark05 Furball? Seems we have the same card.

You're the first case I've heard where the pixel pipelines unlock, but your vertex shader won't. Weird.

Anybody tried this with the Gigabyte 6800NU. Last week, I built my new system with this card but 15.2 didn't unlock anything. I'll try this tonite (fingers crossed). The card came with the F2 bios already and I flashed it to F3.

XFX 6800, 16x1,6 no artifacts in 3dmark03 or 05, stock clock speeds for now, only until my NV5 arrives =D

wierd though, i seem to have an "inbetween" 6800, it has a *silver* bar across the top and a black molex, but i couldn' use Riva 15.2 with it

New Leadtek 6800NU unlocked with no artifacts in 3dmark2005 to 12x1,6vp which gave a 100point increase. If I enable 16x1,6vp I get artifacts in the airship level only but an additional 300 points.

So 15.3 will be able to unlock stuff if I wasn't able to do using 15.2(on the newer 6800NU's), the only uncertainty being possible artifacts?

Installed 3dmark, and tried it out, got a score of 9396
did not see any artifacts in any of the tests.
sys is a 2500+ @3200
512 mb corsair value ram
nf7/s v2

I'm sure more memory would help.
A new PS might help, running the 300w that came with the case.

Haven't tried to oc it.
I have read a few posts on other boards about the not being able to oc after opening the pipes, there is a "disable clocktest" setting that if disabled allows over clocking. The rivatuner FAQ advises against it though.

Might try a minor oc later wouldn't mind seeing a score of 10k, it may requre more than just moving some sliders though.

Tried to oc it and got the "driver failed clock test" message.
Did the, not recomended , setting of disable clock test value to 1.

Overclocked the core to 335 and the mem to 725 and ran 3dmark again.
This time the score was 9456, did not see any artifacts or notice any differances from the previous test.
Reset disable clock test, and reset to default settings for now.

The FAQ and some of the posts on 3d guru seem to indicate that the error message can be caused by newly opened unstable pipes, that can cause artifacts the driver can detect, even if you can't see them. In some cases the instability can be resolved by bumping up the power to the card. Increasing the power can also toast the card. I guess that decision depends on how good your cash flow is.

Right now I'm running the bare minimum PS for this card, when upgrade the power supply, put in another 120mm fan to feed it more fresh air, and add another 512 mb ram, I think it shoud hit that 10k mark.

For now, The games run smooth, the graphics are sweet, and I'm pretty pleased with my $200 card.

If you upgrade your drivers to 66.93 your score will add another couple hundred points Cdub. I was amazed at the difference when I upgraded from the Omega drivers.

Thanks for the info..what about the beta 71.20's?

Once I unlocked the pipes and confirmed them I ran 3dmark2k3 and got 97xx but with a slight overclock I was able to go over 10k. My system is similar to yours minus the ram which I have more of and overclocked pretty good. I think I should be able to get more than that but i'm scared of frying my card.

BFG 6800OC, came stock 12x1/6 but the last 4 pipes were unlockable with 15.2. 15.3 opened them right up, and 16x1/6 is now running without visual artifacts in '03, '05, and way too many hours of WoW.

With my Barton@ 2.25Ghz, 1GB RAM, here's my benches so far:

12x1/6 @ 350/700 (stock):

'03: 9028
'05: 3567

12x1/6 @ 400/900:

'03: 10308
'05: 4157
(although 3DMark 03 and 05 run w/o artifacts at this speed, WoW does have very minor but noticeable artifacts at this speed)

16x1/6 @ 350/700 (stock):

'03: 9750
'05: 3867

I haven't OC'd the 16x1/6 setup yet, but hoping to do better than my 12x1/6 OC'd results.

BFG 6800OC w/ Black Molex
15.3

I unlocked the 6th vertex unit but the 4 pipes game me all kinds of articifacts.

Running 12/6 over 12/5 I got virtually no performance gain in the HardwareOC HL2 Benchmark.
