is it just me, or are most of these studies unbelievably retarded?
"teenagers that have a lot of piercings are more likely to be rebellious"
"teenagers that smoke and drink found to have more sex, too"
reminds me of norm mcdonald when he'd do weekend update and quote a study. "this and other studies can be found in this month's issue of 'Duh' magazine"

oh, in case anyone cares, here's the link:

It probably cost the tax-payers $12 million to figure all this out. Sadly, there is an alarming number of parents who would have never figured out in a hundred years that children learn far more from what you do than they will ever learn from what you say.

new study: adults' bad behavior influences kids

That statement deserves a "DIRRRRRRRRRRRRRR"

Wish someone would pay me to point out the obvious :D. There are ALOT of seemingly NORMAL kids that are complete fvcked up though, so these studies are worthless. I blame alot of crazy behavior on A.D.D. and other mental issues like that, kids with A.D.D. are frikin nuts when their young, and if they have it bad enough, they stay nuts untill the day they die. A big factor is also the highschool "in crowd" type people, 99% of them drink, smoke weed and get in trouble. I dont think kids are influence able once they hit 17 unless they are completely stupid or desperate in some way. Kids 14 and below are insanely influence able.

The media paints behavioral studies with to broad a brush.

There is probably a great deal of scientific data within the results of this study that can be used for multiple purposes that is not apparent in the article.

Now there's a revelation if I've ever seen one. God bless these studies

The popcorn you're eating has been pissed in. Film at eleven.

Rams plagued by fumbles as earthquakes rock Los Angeles. Film at eleven.

Moscow in flames, missiles headed toward New York. Film at eleven.

I'm not wearing any pants. Film at eleven.

This reminded me of the recent story about movie screenwriter Joe Eszterhas. Joe has throat cancer from smoking and is saying that smoking in movies ought to be forbidden. He says that by featuring characters who smoked in movies, he has "been an accomplice to the murders of untold numbers of human beings."

Joe ought to win some kind of award for screaming hypocracy, as his movies (Showgirls, Jagged Edge, Basic Instinct, Sliver) have typically been packed with sex and violence. Joe now recognizes that people smoking in movies can influence younger viewers, but oddly enough he remains silent concerning similar effects regarding sex and violence.

They let companies buy product placements in movies, so the main character will drink Budweiser (label facing the camera, of course), and they understand that could influence people to do likewise. But somehow, featuring sex and violence isn't supposed to have the same impact.

Sure, Joe, it's not like rampant promiscuous sex or blasting guns can't hurt anyone.

Adults & Parents, do not have a bad influence on us "kids". We are given choices to make and whether or not we choose the right ones will effect us later. I mean if you dont know whats right & wrong theres deffently some screws loose in your head. Sure adults and parents will do things that aint the best, but you should be smart enough to know becuz they juss did that you dont have to. its got alot to do with choices and decisions that we make.

You're kidding right?

If not: How can one *know* what's right if all they've seen is wrong?

ummmmm,
opps, your right..parents have to teach you the right and wrong. i ment like if your parents did something wrong you know is wrong doesnt mean you have to do it. So if your parents havent taught you right from wrong then ya there influence does lead to bad behavior. i wasent even thinking about...if the parents didint teach right from wrong. what i was saying was for those kids who have been taught right from wrong ;)
