Employs 210,000 people, or .15% of the jobs in the country.

Global Insight concluded that over the 1985-2004 period, Wal-Mart led to to 9.1 percent decline in food prices, a 4.2 percent decline in prices of other goods and a 3.1 percent decline in overall consumer prices.

The research firm found Wal-Mart led to a 0.75 percent improvement in the overall efficiency of the economy, based on capital intensity and lower import prices.

I guess Wal Mart isn't as bad as some make it out to be.

I'd like to see how they've contributed to the decline in wages and the closure of American factories and other businesses.

Read the article, and you might find out.

"Consumers earned less in nominal dollars, but their income bought them more in the economy with Wal-Mart because of real disposable income gains," the study concluded.

Wal-Mart both sponsored the study and provided unprecedented access to detailed data on sales, employment, and wages at Wal-Mart stores and Wal-Mart Supercenters, going back to the mid-1980's; detailed data on its purchases from its suppliers in 2004; and, a sampling of employee wage data by store and job category for October 2004. Global Insight structured the study to determine the net economic impact of Wal-Mart at the national, city, and county level.

What's next, the Pentagon will sponsor a study showing how good torture is for people?

No, according to the news today it is VP Dick Cheney's office that is promoting how good torture is. He asked Rebub Senators today to exempt the CIA from the no torture clauses. Obviously Cheney must think that torture is the only way to obtain the truth.

So? They're still enforcing there own morality on their own comsumers not mentions the numerous racial-related lawsuits.

Just because you do something right doesn't mean that makes all your past history of all your misgivings disappear.

Must have learned from Micro$oft!

My first question when I saw this post was who funded the study... this is pretty sad.

and the OP posts lies and deception thread title.

That is not the results of the study. The study clearly showed the decline in wages because of Walmart and increase in reliance on Government help especially in regards to healthcare because of said lower wages from Wally World.

 on Walmart and  on the OP for supporting them.
