Yeah, I just picked it up. Stuck that baby in.. went right into the bios, set the spd to user define, set it to 2, and the rest was 2 2 .. exit and save.. and it just hung... so like.. wtf? I never set the cas in the bios myself before.. so how do I do it? I think I did something wrong.. the ram works at normal cas 3 @ 133.. but I didn't just replace my old generic stuff for this if it can't even do that... dammit.. so if anyone can help.. please do. thanks.

Assuming you have no other ram, then it must do it at that setting, or you did not get a "works as advertised product"

Does changing it back to CAS3 work? If so, I'd be contacting where you got it.

yeah.. I found out that my old ram was micron too.. I just never knew, cause looking at it I couldn't tell and no programs (sandra or anything) could tell me.. but then in my thread in general hardware, someone told me to look at the chips.. and if it starts with Mt then it's micron.. so my old stick is micron.. and I never tried to oc it.. cause I'm dumb.. and I didn't know how to change the cas timing.. I thought it just did whatever it could.. untill now.. so I tried my old ram.. and it does cas 2 @ 140.. but then I had it crash when installing prime 95.. uh oh.. so now it's back down to 137.. and it seems okay.. I want to know if prime 95 is a better torture test than seti? is it? So this new stick of ram is going back.. they say they will give me my money back if it doesn't do 142 @ cas 2.. so it's going back..

the chips are sure Micron, the stick could be not Micron made.
if the number on the chip is .......75, that's cas3. 7e is cas2.

Actually, 7.5 can be either CAS2- or CAS3-rated officially, but it should do CAS2 without a problem.

As some other people have pointed out before..

CTSpd is a nice little program that will identify the manufactuer and timings of your memory that are stored on it.

The site is in German but the program is in English.ctSPD
