I don't know.. this looks promising to me. Could we actually be getting a real Star Wars movie?! You know.. that doesn't suck. Could it turn out to be a huge epic work of awesomeness? I hope.. I hope.
 
Seriously think JJ should have trolled everyone by an end scene where Jar Jar pops up and does the Poltergiest "I'm baa-aack".

Naw, seriously, I think J.J.'s great. I was a big fan of Lost until nearly the end, and think his Star Trek reboots have been fantastic (Mission Impossible III is good too). I also enjoy movies for what they are and don't pick them apart mercilessly like most of the Internet.

His Star Trek movies are OK for what they are, just action and spectacle, but I'm not at all interested in that for a Star Wars movie. For that matter, why aren't there more Star Trek fans pissed about those movies? The little I know about Star Trek, they seem to piss all over.
 
The whole Star Wars story line is by now something of a children's bedtime tale. I'd say that if you're "jaded", it's by nearly forty years of better movies, more than anything else.

Most likely the guy you saw with the saber is not the BIG baddie. Andy Serkis is the voice in the trailer, and I think he will be the big baddie. I'm still holding out that Darth Plaguies is still alive.

As for the light saber, its been suggested that its an ancient saber, which is why the light glows differently, and that the sides are actually exhaust ports. In concept art there is a guy called the grave robber who collects sith artifacts. He most likely picked up this ancient saber.

They are pissed about the Star Trek movies though.

It's really a different movie entirely. I'm a big star trek fan, but I appreciate the reboots for what they are, Abramized action movies.
 
I have to admit I'm shocked at the response. My initial reaction was 'well that looks like shit'.

In order - I thought I was watching spaceballs when the token black guy popped up in the first scene. The rolling droid? Ok. That makes sense from a sand-world point of view. The young actor? I've had enough of young starwars. They fucked the entire series up with the first prequels, and I'm sick of teenie-adolescents angsty BS in movies just to draw folks in. This one could have been done without kids and I would have been very very happy. The lightsaber was also very meh - we had enough of the dark cowled evil BS with anakin in the 3rd prequel. The x-wing scene looked very nice, but the falcon scene was more CGI 'wave the camera around' BS and I really thought I was watching something from the clone wars CGI.

Darth Vader was Darth Vader. He was badass. He didn't need a cowel, he didn't need shadowy BS. He was just badass. You got that impression from his mannerisms. Like the fight on cloud city with luke. He WALKED through the entire fight. Why? NO need to run. He's going to win no matter what. You can run, flip, throw things at him, and he's just going to walk toward you and wade through it and win. We need a return to that type of bad guy. Darth Maul was actually a fairly good villain in the first prequel - the rest of the movie just sucked.

I didn't see anything there that I actually liked.

The next/last hobbit movie - now that trailer was good.

Unfortunately for us they know that everyone will go see it. They could very well overdo the CGI and have immature characters again

Wow that is very interesting, 31 years and here we are. Seems these days you hardly ever if never see a sequel so many years later.

Plenty of half baked reboots and remakes these days so the idea of some of the original actors playing a future role as a older version of themselves in a movie so many years later is mind blowing.Would be a nice apology for the those last 3 lame movies.
