I watched the new episodes 4-6 on Spike this weekend, hadn't seen them with all of the Lucas "fixes." I nearly shit my pants when the edited music scene in Jabba's palace came on. The level of my incredulity could not be explained, I just cannot comprehend how anyone could think that that was a good thing to do. It was truly horrific, absolutely no exaggeration. He took what was otherwise a perfectly appropriate and fitting scene for the setting and the style of film, and turned it into something straight out of the Muppet Show. It made absolutely no sense. Why can't anyone put a stop to this madman?

That's gotta be a joke that someone put up on youtube to make fun of "Han shot first."

Please, tell me that's a joke.

Come on, Doc.. Of course it's a joke! Not a bad one, either. :awe:

The real blue-ray extra scene is a clip of Luke constructing his green lightsaber at the beginning of RotJ.

It's funny because nobody ever sites this trajedy when ripping on the SE versions, and quite honestly, I find it more offensive than the "Han shot first" problem (oh trust me, I have issues with that scene too). The musical act in Jabba's palace is just an abomination though. It has NO PLACE ANYWHERE in the whole freaking 6 movie story. You nailed it on the head... it's TOTALLY a Muppet Show scene. It so out of place it feels as if you changed the channel or something.

Horrible. Just horrible.

I have the Original Theatrical trailers on DVD from home (converrted from LDs thank you very much newgroups) and the SE versions also. Which do you think my kids PREFER to watch?

Argggggggggh. This SE shit gets me worked up.

The Special Editions were just a way to repackage old movies into new ones without the trouble and cost of doing remakes. I really wish they didn't do that musical scene in VI, or put Jar-Jar and Hayden Christenson at the end on the DVD releases.

I find that, even worse than those, is the end of Episode 6 where 'spirit Anakin' shows up and IT'S FREAKING HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN!!! What the hell, Yoda stays old, Obi-Wan stays old, but somehow Anakin gets 30 years younger?

(Of course, the fact that Anakin is even there doesn't jibe with the end of Episode 3 where Yoda tells Obi-Wan that Qui-Gonn has "discovered" a way to come back. If he is the one who discovered it, who the hell taught it to Anakin?)

(Of course, the fact that Qui-Gonn even existed doesn't jibe with Episode 5. Obi-Wan told Luke to seek Yoda: "There you will learn from Yoda, the Jedi Master who instructed
me." So, in Episode 5 Obi-Wan learns from Yoda but in Episode 1 he learns from Liam Neeson.)
