The project will be directed by J.J. Abrams, whose Tom Cruise vehicle "Mission: Impossible III" will be released by Paramount on May 5. Abrams, famed for producing the TV shows "Alias" and "Lost," will also help write and produce.

No Shatner, no Nimoy means no acceptance from all the Trekkie fans and the usual indifference from the general public.

I sense a disturbance in the force.

Worst, Idea evAR....who is at the helm of Star Trek now? It should have been the guy that took over for season 4 of Enterprise (Manny Coto)....not these other idiots.

It would be cool to do a movie on Enterprise, but not Kirk and Spock (that has been played out).

If they did one with the cast from Enterprise after the series got cancelled, talking about the Making of the federation and maybe a galactic war, that would be cool. Of course since the series got cancelled, it would probably be just as good as Serenity was in the box office. :(

Nemesis was a failure because the writer had never even seen Star Trek and the bulk of the movie was special effects. Not to mention that the entire premise was stupid - Picard was a nobody when his clone was supposedly created. And the leader of the Romulan Empire hanging out in what looks like a dungeon from Pete's Bondage Shoppe? Stupid.

Enterprise failed because Braga has a time travel fetish and ignored all the events between the discovery of warp drive and the first Star Trek series. He also thought he could attract non-trekkies by eliminating "Star Trek" from the name. By the time they came to their senses and started d talking about the Romulan War, it was too late.

That said, if they ditch Berman and Braga, plus they bring in a good writer who is a Trek fan, it might have a chance.

Here is a bit of a review of the final season with Manny Coto at the helm . http://www.scifidimensions.com/Jun05/enterprisefinale.htm

I agree, I didn't even bother watching the show till the final season when someone told me to watch it and I loved it.

I couldn't even make it through the first season, it was so terrible. DS9's first season wasn't even that bad - although DS9 turned into a decent show in season 2. If Enterprise had turned around by Season 2, it'd still be on.

The final season was crazy good though.

I agree. And when they do, they should start at a point after where they left off.

The cast is getting old. How long can you expect all the same crew to be present on the same ship. The only remaining crew left on Enterprise are Picard, Crusher and LaForge.

I'm thinking the movie needs to be after Nemisis, with a new crew on a new ship.
