new SSD; move MBR from old HDD to it?

I installed a new Intel X25-M 120gb into my system to use as a boot drive. I originally wanted to clone my existing Win7 partition to it, but w/ alignment issues and such i started with a fresh install. during the new installation of Win7, i failed to unplug/remove my existing HDD, so now I think the MBR still resides on the HDD as when i unplug it from my system I can't boot. I only realized this as I was thinking of formatting the original Win7 HDD partition to become a truecrypt encrypted partition.

Anyway to get the MBR onto my SSD? I literally spent the last day reinstalling software and applying windows and program settings to my liking. I'd really hate to have to reinstall windows again and repeat the process (now for a third time, as i messed up the first). Help....?

Thanks.

Did you try to do a repair install (with the unwanted disk unplugged)? Seems like I remember someone saying that works, but I'm not sure.

reinstall dude. will not have issues down the road.

how long does it take to install on ssd lol.

Only way I know to fix this is to either reinstall, or do a repair install.
It is really annoying that windows is so stupid about where it places the boot files.

i tried the repair install option on the Win7 dvd, however, it didn't find the old OS.

in the end, i reinstalled again. getting used to it now that it's the third time in the past 4 days. not only was i concerned w/ the time of reinstalling everything, i was also concerned about the needless rewrite to the SSD. but i think once everything is done, i'll run the intel SSD optimizer tool.

thanks anyway.
