new SSD for older computer but....

silicon

Senior member
i just got an SSD for my older computer with a p4p800-e deluxe motherboard and after doing a fresh install with windows 7 I notice there is a delay of about 12 seconds before it begins to start windows. once the POST is finished i get the blinking cursor in the upper left corner of the screen. wait about 12 seconds then it works. Can I eliminate this so it will not hesitate for these seconds?

There is a timeout mechanism for the bios to determine that a potential boot device is not available. Usually a dvd.
Making the ssd first will bypass that.
Some bios settings will do a diagnostic scan of ram first; you don't need that.
You might also disable unneeded adapters like the ide adapter. They take time to initialize.
