New Speakers yay

Just bought a pair of Dali mentor menuet speakers to hook up to my hifi setup (NAD T750 reciever), and started to use Wimp for music (256kbps mp3) and it sound awesome. Bu my guess is it could be even more awesome using either a better sound card or a DAC.

Anyone have experiences with either? (just plain stereo setup)

OMFG! (sorry)
Just bought a Cambridge Audio DacMagic (DAC), and the sound just opened in a completely new way. I'll probably change to Spotify (320kps/mp3) once they open in Denmark. I've connected the DacMagic via USB overriding on-board sound card.

So, in all I've just spend 8000Dkk or ~$1500, hopefully I can sell my old speakers and CD player to get some money back.

If you're still using your onboard sound card, you'd definitely benefit from a nice sound card from Asus or Auzentech. I also try to keep my music at 320kbps minimum, though I prefer lossless if possible.

I'm sure the DAC is a solid device, but I couldn't help but facepalm and laugh when I read this in the product description on their website:

"Adapted Time Filtering (ATF) asynchronous upsampling technology might sound complicated but the benefits are instantly audible. Essentially it converts 16-24 bit audio to 24 bit/192kHz so you hear way more from compressed music."

You can take a 16-bit/44.1KHz signal and convert it to 24-bit/192KHz signal, but it sure won't allow you to hear more!
