I just picked up the Klipsch PM 2.1 online and the sub is making rustling noises (even when its not plugged into anything so I don't think its the soundcard). It didn't do this when I just got it (it's about a week old). Should I be concerned?

Thanks in advance.

I'm nor sure what you mean...if it's not plugged in and you shake it what? Even if it's not connected to the soundcard and plugged in the AC outlet there should be no noise so check the wires

I don't shake it or anything. I plug in the power and turn it on and it makes the rustling noise (while not playing anything). My roomate describes it as thunder (but much softer).

Does this speaker set come with a volume control pod?

Some speaker set's control pods get dirt or dust in there and make a static/rumble sound sometimes.

Try twisting the knob a little and see if it crackles.

If you do not have a volume control pod, ignore this message.

I've have had 2 sets of these, and both died, one in a month, the second in a day.
The subwoofer keeps failing.
I wonder if your subwoofer is about to fail.

Entirely possible that it's not receiving a clean signal from your computer? Or does it do this even when not plugged into the computer?

It does it when not plugged in. Or should I say did--I moved the sub about a foot away from its original spot and moved the wire slack off the sub (dunno if this is of any significance) and it is fine now...I wonder if it was interference or something. I dunno but it's not making that sound anymore so I am happy. Thanks all.
