New space strategy games on steam

I have noticed that steam has been advertising Endless space and Legends of Pegasus. They both look kinda cool, remind me a lot of SW: Empire at War. Endless space is out now, and Legends of Pegasus comes out the 10th of august.

Anyone know anything about these, been following them, or played?

Only thing is they are both kinda pricey, but I may be interested in them later.

As a Moderator, you should know the virtues of the search engine 😀

Endless Space has been discussed and it's a brilliant game, well worth my spend. It gave me a feeling with a 4X game that I hadn't had since SMAC and that's saying something. Compared to most other 4X games like Civ it may feel a little shallow in areas such as a belief system, religion or society fundamentals but playing it a good few times I feel that although the game may be slightly enhanced by adding such features, they're not necessary for the game to be great.

Legends of Pegasus... Looks like some very tasty piece of game but I've already got a ton to play, not even counting MWO which I'll be starting to play on the 7th August. I'll probably pick it up on a 50-75% off sale sometime in the future.

I expect the Legends of Pegasus to be quite mediocre of a game bec they are already offering 15% preorder bonus, and not only that, but there is a dearth of information on what the actual game will be like. There are people complaining on the forum that the developers are not really answering their questions or offering any real look into actual gameplay.

A lot of games offer a pre-order bonus discount price. Torchlight 1 did, Endless Space did... as did a plethora of other games made by smaller developers.

Yeah, but don't they usually offer 10%? It's usually the small indie developers that offer more, but didn't realize that it was being made by indie developer. I don't think they're indie though because of the lack of communication with the fans 😀

Legends of Pegasus has a much higher starting price (closer to AAA titles) than most other small developers.

15% sounds much better than 10% when it's at that price level 🙂

I am just starting to get back into 4x games with Civ 5, haven't played any for a long while.

Yeah, yeah, I know Civ 5 barely counts as 4x. But I also got Crusader Kings 2 on the Steam sale.

These look pretty damn interesting.

I'm curious how Endless Space compares with Sins of a Solar Empire.

Same here.

Endless Space has been getting some good reviews, but with Sins and even Gal Civ 2 I bought in the summer sale, I'm hesitant to buy another 4x game... unless of course it really is that great.

Nothing like Sins.

Closer to Gal Civ and Civ but has it's own uniqueness. No regrets for pre-purchasing and playing through Alpha/Beta.

Good to hear. I'm not looking for a Sins clone but have had an itch for gal civ-like gameplay lately.

Endless space is a very solid 4x game. I've been playing it since Alpha and feel like I got my money's worth.

Isn't Endless Space a turn-based game? In contrast, Sins is a real-time-based game with 4x elements.

One huge difference is that online multiplayer PvP is hard to do in a TBS, but very feasible in an RTS.
