New Soyo motherboard wont boot up

I just recently purchased a Soyo SY-P4S-645D DRAGON Lite motherboard.

With the mobo, im using DDR PC2100 ram and a p4 2.0, both that I took out from my Sony VAIO.

I get everything installed, but when I go to boot the machine up - my monitor remains black and the light starts blinking as if the pc was off. But yet all the fans and power light on the machine goes on.

I think I can hear the hd turn on, but I havent seen the hd lights light up at all. (But that shouldnt keep my pc from booting up I was told)

Im using my GF4 4200 Ti as my video source. I even thru in my old PCI V2 and still had the same problem.

Anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be? There is NO beeping when I boot it up...so Im assuming I got everything installed correctly. I'm in the process of finding out what socket my cpu is. I'm pretty sure its 478 which is why I bought the mobo, but it's the only thing I can think of...

I'm pretty new with pc's, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Quench

If you don't have an RPM-signalling fan plugged into the motherboard's CPUFAN1 header, the board will do what you're describing. Refer to page 15 of the manual.

?Fan-Off Control?:

1. FOC only works on CPUFAN 1.
2. CPU fan with sensor pins must be used.
3. CPU fans approved by AMD are strongly recommended.

The ?HOT KEY? function is provided for the CPU fans without sensor pins,
to avoid the power off. Users may press the ?Insert? key to jump over the
?Power Off? mode; go to the BIOS and disable ?FOC?.
Now system can be
booted normally.

So try holding the Insert key down and powering up. Disable FOC in the BIOS (or plug an RPM-signalling fan into the CPUFAN1 header).

Update: oops, the manual I quoted happens to be for a Dragon Lite, but not your Dragon Lite... and Soyo doesn't list a downloadable manual for yours, so I'm out of luck there. Still, this is a known issue with Soyo boards, so hopefully the solution is the same. Good luck!

Thanks alot - im gonna try that tonight. But before I do, I got one last question. Do you think it could be a ram issue as I mentioned above? I keep reading DDR333 on the soyo website... just so i'll have a good idea what the prob is if the FOC issue doesnt fix the prob.

Thanks again

I think the chipset used on your board is able to use PC2100 but works at its best with PC2700 (DDR333). No harm in trying.
