New soundcard?

It's been forever since I have even thought about upgrading my soundcard. I still have a SB Live Value. If I'm fine with the sound quality, will a newer soundcard help with FPS in games at all? I guess I'm assuming a newer card would be able to handle the game sounds better but I really don't know.
Thanks

not so much, The FPS increases aren't that high. Your talking single digit gains(percentage wise)

A newer card might be able to do 3D sound better. Something like a newer SoundBlaster Audigy2 can take advantage of the newest EAX API. If you are into 3D shooters, it *might* be worth it. Otherwise, stick with what you have...

If you're looking to increase gaming performance, it might be more beneficial to spend the money ($50-ish) elsewhere (another 512mb of ram for example... depending on your current configuration)
