New Sound Card...

There are so many to choose from! I would prefer a Creative card. What is a good card for gaming and overall experience without breaking the bank?

While not a Creative card and a little bit more expensive....I highly recommend the HT Omega Striker 7.1 for $80 at Newegg. I absolutely love this card and the sound quality for the price is excellent.

Is their some reason you could 'prefer' a creative card? I mean last time I checked the company has been a bucket of crap for awhile, while their hardware the produce tends to be good; who ever is on their software side drops the ball big time with terrible drivers, especially when it comes to vista.

Also define 'breaking the bank' are we talking less than $100?, $150?, $200?

Another thing, what operating system? Actually list full spec's of what this will be for.

The Asus Xonar DX should also be considered, but if you want creative that's obviously not a choice.

Technically it doesn't matter if you left out a word. The results of the definition are the same...
$149.99 = Not breaking the bank
$150.00 = Breaking the bank

I think the XtremeGamer is still the cheapest real X-Fi. I saw them going on Newegg for under $70 last month.
