I thought they were making those LAME ass ps3 controllers...long handles or some trash

Me too. Glad to see they didn't fix what was FAR from broke.

Playstation controllers suck. They put the analog sticks in the wrong place. The analog sticks suck compared to the Xbox. Does it have analog trigger buttons?

That's all a matter of opinion. I personally like the Playstation controllers and think the original large Xbox controllers suck. The S-Controller is a lot better though.

The original Xbox controllers do suck. I can't think of anything particularly good about the Playstation controller though. What's so great about it?

My best guess is people like it because they like the system, so they just got used to the controller.

For $500-$600 only hardcore fans/rich ppl are gonna buy. I don't expect it to sell well till prices come down. Design looks ok to me though.

I have always felt that the Playstation controller just fit perfectly in my hand. I think it is a solid design and they do not need to change it.

However, the xbox controller took a little bit of getting used to for me. What's so great about it? My best guess is people like it because they like the system, so they just got used to the controller.

I don't know why they orient it vertically in the pics, and have the logo oriented for a vertical placement. That thing is so ginormous that there's no way in hell anyone is going it actually use it that way.

The Xbox controller has the left analog stick where it belongs - where it is easiest to use.

well, we PS2'ers think that the controller is perfect as it is. both analog sticks are within reach, and the L/R buttons are good as well. the grip and weight is good too.

I agree with Dumac, the Playstation controller has always seemed comfortable to to me. I've played pretty much every system for a good amount of time at some point, and I've seen and felt some really, really bad controller designs and I can honestly say that the Playstation controller is NOT bad at all. The Sega Genesis, Super NES and original Xbox controllers, however, are totally different stories.

Just out of curiosity... how old are you?

Those that like the PS controller must have tiny hands. The second iteration of Xbox controllers was great. I just played a 360 the other day, and it's one of the best controllers I've ever used. I could never use the dual shock very long on the PS, the hand position feels very unnatural to me.

Is it just me, or is that controller the EXACT one from the PS2, just with a USB port?

It is the same design as the PS2 controller, but is different. It has built in motion sensing (them trying to copy off the WiiMote) but it only has 6 degrees of motion. While putting in the motion sensing they lost the rumble feature. It is also bluetooth, but I'm not sure what the USB port is for.

Yes, the original Xbox controllers were horrid, but the system was saved by the awesome S-Controller. The 360 controller, on the other hand, is my favorite all-time.

The PSX controller was neat when it first arrived, and the dual analog release was pretty dang cool. But I can't stand the PS2 controller anymore.

Yeah, the Xbox 360 controller is almost the same as the S-Controller, and therefore awesome. 😛

Oh and before I hit the sack, for $600, the PS3 better do everything it says, plus scratch my back or something.... 😛

God that thing honestly looks like sh!t.....the oval/egg like shape just does NOT do that thing justice whatsoever. For something that is so 'cutting edge' and bad ass it looks wimpy....i dont mean to sound like a typical hater but....that thing looks like it fell out of an ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

nah dude, it's gotta be aerodynamic, cuz i mean,, what if you took it on a trip with you, and couldn't fit it in the trunk. OH,, what a shock you have to strap it to the roof of ur car. OH NO, SONY to the rescue, they made it aerodynamic to save you gas, a tradition handed down from one japanese company to another, economical travel, better gas milages! YAY

Me too. Glad to see they didn't fix what was FAR from broke.

yes, after 11 years its essentially the same, which is why it sucks compared to other controllers. Noob fanboys deterring innovation...

Well it isn't as if in 11 years the shape of the average human hand has gone under radical changes. Also, it isn't as if they didn't have the necessary technology to make a comfortable controller when the Playstation 1 or 2 came out. The only reason to change it would be to add technological functions, which is not what most of the controller bickering here is about.

The dualshock PS1 controller fit well, so at least I'll know that the PS3 controller would fit my hand well if I ever got a PS3.
