Is anyone here into Home Theater stuff? :D I'm sure a lot of you are. I'm bored so thought i'd write this up.

I just purchased Sony's new DVP-NS715P DVD Player. Small sleak silver unit, it's nice looking :)

It's the upgrade to the 700p which has great reviews. I was going to pick that unit up till i found out this new one was coming out. I have NO clue why Sony still advertises that 700p cause it's been replaced and discontinued??? Atleast that's what several stores told me. Also i can't find the 715P anywhere on their site? Kinda odd, but oh well.

The new features to the 715P are

"Precision Cinema Progressive" Which Reproduces High Definition Picture with Rich Power of Expression

12bit108MHz noise SHIEIPUDO video D/A converter loading

Plays DVD-RW/R, CD-RW/R, and MP3 Sound. The 700 doesn't play DVD-RW/R

Instant replay - With one button, about 10 seconds ago, it returns and the overlooked important scene, the words which it failed to hear are reproduced.

Unit looks the same as the 700p.

Overall the unit kicks butt in image quality and color. Love the progressive scan picture. I've yet to try the DVD-RW/R (cause i dont have a burner), but maybe i'll try and get one from somebody at work to test it.

I like it a lot :) I generally hate sony (except their trinitron tubes) but this is a decent unit. Also i got it for a rediculously cheap price of $169 @ CircuitCity today!! List for $299! I sweet talked the sales guy :D Also i've known him for a few months and he's a cool dude.

So now i don't collect computers anymore, i collect HT stuff! All i need now is a better powered sub (Looking at some M&K, Klipsch, and Definitive Technology. I LOVED the 15" Definitive sub. The M&K was sweet, but a little underpowered i thought. The Klipsch 12" and 15" were pretty darn nice too. Decisions Decisions :D

I also just got a Denon 3802 Reciever a few weeks ago along with a Mitsu 46" HDTV Widescreen. At the same time i picked up my surround Klipsch in-wall speakers! 1" titanium tweeters with 8" woofers. It's 6.1. I need a better sub though, using an older one i had :(

So my setup is almost complete. Now i have to finish building my Bonus room/HT room so i can get it outta the living room...heh.

SVS 20-39PC+ ;)

The 715P looked pretty good, but I don't like the silver since ther rest of my equipment is black. ;) I was thinking about picking up the NS755V progressive player that adds SACD. It is due out in a few weeks.

I visit AudioReview.com all the time, great site for what it is (the reviews are setup like epinion.com).

I keep seeing SVS advertised on there all the time, but that doesn't really mean jack about their product. Are SVS that good? Have you actually used them before? I see on their site you can start ordering the PC+ on July 15th? So i'm assuming no one has heard it yet! Let me know you're experience with these subs. One thing i don't care for is the standing sub look? But i could get past that if they sounded that good. Unfortunatly they only sell online, so i can't hear them anywhere :(

I gave that thought also, but Silver doesn't bother me and i don't own any SACD or plan to anytime soon. Spec wise though they seem to be the exact same. Good price on it also.

That is showing them available??

SVS is the GeForce TI4600 of subwoofers IMHO. I have (2) 20-39CS+'s w/ a Samson 1000 running them. The bass is low, and not boomy at all. It is reference quality, and they get very loud. You can feel it in the seat of your pants. They have a 45 day trial period when you buy them, and they honor it to the T. I had originally bought a 16-46PC back in December, then a few weeks later the CS+ was announced. I kept the single sub for 45 days, and figured I needed more bass. I sent it back, and they sent me my current setup. ;)
