Ok man, I have no idea what you're trying to say. I just explain everything you said, in my post you quoted. It's a catch 22 with Sony producing a gaming unit integrated with a Blu-Ray player.

Again, it is COMPLETELY valid comparison between a PS3 to a stand alone Blu-Ray player. If Blu-Ray player manufacturers can't compete with the PS3 in price and performance, that's their problem. But understand, that is a problem Sony themselves created.

sometimes there's a disconnect between my mind and well.. everything else. 😛
it's definitely a catch-22. i think we can leave it at that, as I seem to be stalling all forward progress in this discussion. I do that sometimes. heh

I won't be purchasing a PS3 as a blu-ray player because Sony was dumb and did not include an IR receiver. I have my equipment rack in a closet and use a harmony 890 with RF to control all my gear. That won't work with a PS3, so I'd have to use multiple remotes. Dumb move by Sony. I'll replace my HD-DVD player when I can find a profile 2.0 blu-ray player for under $150 (hopefully with a free movie or two in the box). I'm expecting to switch from HD-DVD to SD DVD for at least a year or more.

As others have said a lot comes down to people not wanting a console. I'm waiting on these new players as well. The analog outputs will be a nice bonus which the PS3 doesn't have.

Hopefully the load times are good on these new players.
