When it comes to RAM I would like to know what exactly is the difference between ECC (error correction) non ECC; is there a speed difference?

Also, what's the difference between registered and unregistered ram?

The difference is that ECC ram checks for errors and non-ECC ram doesn't. If you're not running a server, you don't need ECC ram. Don't waste your money.
